Among the oldest grape growing regions in
California, the Mount Diablo/Alhambra Valley area is rapidly
becoming an important new wine growing region. It turns out
that the Alhambra Valley, tucked between Pleasant Hill, Martinez
and Lafayette is prime farmland for vineyards.

Contra Costa
was filled with vineyards in the early 1900's. The Upham
vineyard was located in the Alhambra Valley on the outskirts
of Martinez.
